DGT North American Chess Clock - NEW edition

I recently ordered the latest version of the DGT North American clocks for the 2025 Texas State Women’s Chess Championship. The clocks arrived right on time for our event setup, and both the TDs and players had a great experience using them throughout the competition.

“That thing’s beautiful” and “Man, where’d you get that?!” were the words heard at last night’s mini tournament at our city CC. Once you experience the aesthetics, you quickly get over the kind of annoying part of having to lift and press on/off to restart. (And it’s very, VERYYYY satisfying to beat a strong 1800elo when debuting a new clock) ; )

I appreciate that when I assign a custom time control, it is saved through turning the clock off and on to reset it. I was afraid I'd have to set it up again each time, but that is not the case. This is my first chess clock but my friends and I all like the feel of the switch, and the quick reference on the bottom makes it easy to load the time controls I want.

Saw one in person and was enamored by it's appearance. I've used the older model of the North American, but this rectangular mold made it pop out more to me aesthetically. It arrived in perfect condition.

This is precisely the clock I needed for my return to OTB rated chess play. MANY time control options to choose from plus Manual options as well. Reasonable price too.

Manual settings in new edition are easier to set especially accommodating the bonus / delay features and bonus time when needed.

There are lots of chess clocks for a lot less money, that do the same thing. I bought this one because it seemed from the manual that you could display the move count at the same time as the clock. You cannot. Manual literally says you can turn the move counter on and off, but there is no point to doing so because the moves don’t show either way and either way when you press the + button, it shows you the moves (while pressed, and turns clock display off while pressed).

Manufacturer offered only bad information in response to questions (it is deliberate because rules don’t allow it (absolutely untrue, as rules allow clocks to display moves), and offered no explanation for why manual says you can turn the counter on and off. (Not just the manual, but the website also says “turn the move counter on and off in any option”)

I assume it keeps accurate time as well as any clock. The rocker is soft but not too soft. Quiet but not too quiet. The display is large and easy to read. But I never had a problem reading any clock. I just wanted the move count always on display to double check that I didn’t miss a move when doing notation. Don’t want to press a button ok the midst of the game to see it.

The chess clock is easy to use and set-up.

DGT NA has the setting used for most tournies.
