The pieces came packed in a plastic bag wrapped in bubble wrap inside a paper bag. No individual protection means they will be dinged up from shipping handling. The whole set is 38oz instead of 43oz and it’s exactly the same model and weight as the House Of Staunton offering, just with a higher price which can be kind of compensated with the free cloth bags you can add, and simpler packaging. It is a good set, but packaging and visual matching of some equal pieces could be much better: Some ebonized pieces came chipped showing pale wood and some of the other pieces have unwanted size differences: one of my white bishops doesn’t match the set because it’s slim in comparison to the other ones, which are chunky and wide at the mitre, neck and body. The black king is chipped and is smaller than the white king (it is not 1.5” in base diameter as specified), one pawn is missing part of its torus and everything else is minor and not distracting normal variance. Overall, if you are lucky to get matching and intact pieces, the set will be fine. Weight between matching pieces is very consistent though.

The set came in a thick plastic bag, tightly packed, inside a cardboard box. The tight packing prevented the pieces from moving around, all of them look great. Pieces are well proportioned and properly weighted. The style is a matter of taste — these are the chess pieces I grew up with, and I love it

The Championship Series Chess Pieces are exquisite! I love the tradition behind them and they highly crafted... a work of art! The set is perfectly weighted and look amazing on my JLP Chess Board. My advise... Get Them!! You will not be dissapointed...!

These pieces are a stylish, simple, and sturdy. They are weighted well and feel great in the hand. I am sure I will get years of enjoyment from them. A special thanks to Paul, who very speedily helped replace a few of them that had some issues - the customer service from Chess House lived up to its excellent reputation. I will be shopping here again.

The pieces seem to be weighted right. Pawns are big which is why I bought these pieces.

I am playing wood pieces from now on. Being 68 years old qualifies me to play the feel good pieces.Thank you Chesshouse for making this a pleasant change.

These chess pieces are just the right balance of size, weight, quality, and price. Very happy!

The German Knight set is a wonderful set and of the type I had been searching for. The USCF and its various sets is committed to the traditional Staunton look, and other vendors seem to push almost completely toward Staunton/staunton-esque sets OR reproductions of various sets from the Soviet Union era. The German Knight sets that I could find were primarily from Europe and quite expensive. The Chess House model is (I think) quite affordable in comparison and is very good looking. Other than the Knight (with the curved back of the German kt model) has the Staunton characteristics. Well made, with a good heft to them. I suggest this is a set that will serve you well either set up for permanent use or decoration in your home or as your go to tournament set.

I did not receive what was actually ordered. The order was complete but I placed an order for Ebonized pieces but clearly was shipped mahogany. I am not satisfied. I have not used them as they are a gift for my son away at college. I wished I was consulted in advance. A resolution to return and get shipped what I ordered would be nice.

Sick pieces.

Excellent Pieces. A nice size and weight, and beautiful. I picked the Ebonized version because I grew up with black and cream pieces. I only wish there was a nice box to put them into (standing up) with individual slots. Recommended.

Pieces are the perfect size for the 19” board. Very classy and traditional chess pieces. Enjoy the color, feel, and weight of the pieces. Like the contrast between the light and black pieces. Even though they were out of stock when my order was placed, still arrived within a week! Great communication and service from Chesshouse.
