Solid Wooden Chess Set for the Blind and Visually Impaired - 3.75" King in Sheeshamwood and Boxwood

My father has always loved chess. He lost his vision and we thought his chess days were done. I was so happy to find the chess house. I purchased the best chess for the blind set and Dad is playing again! Thank you Chess House!

I've been getting back into chess and wanted a good chess set that was accessible (I'm totally blind) but also looked good. So many of the other accessible chess sets out there don't use the actual Staunton pieces.

This arrived today and I just love it! The board and pieces are so well-made and the pieces fit very well into the holes. I so appreciate ChessHouse making this board available.

This is a beautiful board for both the unsighted and sighted. We offer chess for seniors, and a few of our community players are unsighted. They love it so much they want to purchase their own for practice.

I am absolutely in love with this chess set! The pieces have a great feel to them and it’s easy to distinguish between the black and white pieces. My wife is also a fan of the set’s appearance and quality, so much so that she wants to display it. I’ve had other braille chess sets in the past, but some had oddly shaped pieces that made it difficult to tell a king from a queen. Others had wobbly pieces that were easily knocked over. This set, however, addresses all those concerns. My only complaint is that the pieces were delivered in plastic bags instead of a wooden box.

A well made chess set of staunton design as a show piece and to play on. Others have been disappointing, but this one tops them all.Players who have gotten used to the 8 or 10 or even 12-inch boards may find this 16-inch board a bit large, but I like it because there is no crowding of pieces.This is a tournament sized board and set of men, both well crafted. This is what blind players have been looking for for a long time.

We are so grateful for this chess set, which is perfect for my husband and I. My husband is blind and appreciates the functionality of the design and the quality of the materials, and I am sighted and appreciate the thoughtfulness and inclusivity of the design and the beautiful presentation. I only wish it came with a nice wooden box to store the set and pieces in to keep them free of dust when not in use. I'd also like to be able to order extra pieces, but I'm not sure if that's an option. Thanks for this beautiful product for a diverse family!

This chess set is definitely solid, high-quality. I've gotten other chess boards from those blindness product catalogs that were majorly warped and had pieces that wobbled horribly or even fell over because the pegs weren't a good fit. This one is perfect. Pieces fit snugly and don't fall over. board is a flat, solid piece. It's big and heavy but if you want a good, permanent tactile chess set, this is it.

Found this high-quality large chess set for blind/vision impaired and decided to purchase it. Happy with the purchase! Board is solid wood and pieces are easily distinguished from the opposing color. Also easy to determine dark colored squares from light colored squares. Pieces are very stable once inserted into the chosen squares. Overall, great quality with great customer service!
