Product Specs
Great pieces better customer service.
The pieces are just like pictures show and are very sturdy, not at all thin or flimsy. They should last a good while without being too heavy or expensive.
Very nice quality - price set. Best I found on-line. The feel and quality did not disappoint.
The pieces are very attractive and uniformly made. It may be made of plastic and is economical, but it is still a tasteful set. I like that the pieces are weighted.
Purchased the 3 3/4" Emisario pieces prior to this and wanted an extra set as a gift. Unfortunately the 3 3/4" Emisario were sold out. Overall these a likely decent pieces but for roughly the same price I really really prefer the Emisario (Heavier and a more refined, these feel cheaper in comparison). Wish I waited till they came back in stock.
These pieces look great and are tough as well - long lasting pieces for club or home use. Highly recommended purchase.
My 9 year old is in chess club at his school. This set is similar but nicer than the sets the use at tournaments. Good Value

I got the set for my Godson and he loved it! Easy to pack, unpack, and play!
This is a nice looking set, but it is not really heavy. It is single weighted.
I have to emphasize that the photos on the site don't do the pieces justice. I think they're awesome! They're affordable, durable, nicely shaped, really heavy and well balanced, well proportioned, well shaped, and well finished too. I have owned and played a number of sets, this one's the best by far.
If you want an affordable good looking durable set for play put this set at the top of your lis
A very nice set with great feel. The pieces are heavy and well made. I particularly like the design of the tall knight and the bishop's hat. I compared it to other more expensive plastic sets, but no other looked as good. I am very happy with my purchase.
The weight and stability of the pieces is most impressive--you almost have to try to tip them over during play. Very durable material. My one complaint would be the paper felts on the bottoms of the pieces, quite a few of which were damaged. Flimsy stuff, and really offers little protection to the playing surface; not a set to use on a quality wood board. The bag's pouches for the pieces are a little on the small side. I'd give it an Average-plus overall.
I read in the description for the 3 3/4" Executive Staunton II Chess Pieces, Black and White that the quality has improved. I had an older set where the weights were not flush on my set and some of the piece wobbled. Also the paper felt were often off center. You state that this Executive II has improved this. How would you describe the bottoms? Are they totally flat now? Is the felt still paper, or other? I'm interested in getting this set if it is indeed an improvement over the one I had about 5 years ago. Thank you so much!
Jeff, thanks so much for checking in. Yes, they now have really nice felts and I haven't noticed any issues with the weights. It is a great buy for sure.
