3 1/2" Silicone Club Chess Pieces

The silicone chess tokens are brilliant.
They are more substantial than I expected. As one reviewer put it, they are "lighter weight but not light weight." The finish exceeded my expectations: yes, there are visible seams and some minor flash from the molding process but nothing of any consequence. The king and queen stand shoulder to shoulder (a nice egalitarian touch), he is taller than her by the cross on his crown, she is matronly while he is gaunt (king and queen Sprat), and they are easily distinguished on the board. Unlike a nice set of triple-weighted plastics i have, he doesn't tower over her like a church steeple over a gravedigger, and sleeve cuffs aren't always pulling his majesty off the board.

In use is where these tokens really shine.
I'm an old man with arthritis and neurological issues. These are easy to hold on to, and I don't have to freak when an involuntary tremor sends them tumbling. The absence of a felt bottom makes them easy to clean after the inevitable coffee spills, and the silicone is warm - almost flesh-like - in the hand. On the tile squares on the park tables, they'll stand up to more wind than i will. They are too proud and determined for the tentative slide.

Ordering was easy, shipping fast, and the staff's conduct exemplary.

With the cost of shipping, they were too expensive, but i say that about everything. They were worth every penny, and i don't say that very often.

Love the look and feel of the silicone pieces. This will be my new travel set. Always great to try something new and fun.

these are the only pieces I know select for scholastic chess! No more chipped or broken pieces. While these are not indestructible (they can be intentionally damage) but falling to the floor will not be a problem. I have so many chipped rooks broken kings and queens and few other assorted pieces unusable these pieces solve that problem.

Nice pieces, durable and quiet

Shocking, but I bought these for a study set and now they are my favorite. The weight is perfect and I don't worry about them either at the park or in my home library.

I bought these pieces to go with a silicone set I already had so I could learn to play crazyhouse with a real set. (2 identical sets is what you need.) A great choice!

I bought this set primarily because locally the chess clubs tend to meet in Starbucks and Burger Kings. The silicon pieces are perfect since they're easy to clean, bounce if dropped and tend to frustrate those guys who like to slam down pieces to make you think they're about to win the game. While the 14" board doesn't really meet the 75-78% base diameter/square size for the 3.5" piece size it's a good size for cafe tables where a tournament size board would be impractical and works pretty well with these pieces.

They are proper tournament pieces, have a lovely feel to them, and are ideal for chess clubs and competitions. They are quiet in use and we are spared the distracting rattling back into boxes by players whose games have ended before our own. At some chess clubs we visit, we find ourselves playing with the old plastic pieces, where rooks have lost their turrets, kings their crosses and the queens' crowns are all chipped, but these silicone sets should always look new. We find only a couple of minor drawbacks: firstly, players who like to move their pieces by sliding them aren't finding that so satisfying (on our silicone boards/"mats"). Secondly, if pieces are accidentally dropped on the floor, especially on carpet, we don't so easily hear them drop, or where they have bounced. They do tend to show the dirt more than plastic or wooden pieces, but are easily washed, either by hand or in a mesh bag in the washing machine, so are more hygienic, inspiring confidence during these infection-aware times.

These are the only fully washable chess pieces, some in our club like that they are washed frequently.

I enjoy and now prefer studying chess with the soft bendable pieces over the plastic ones. The soft rubber pieces creates me a more intimate experience.

Quick arrival. Needed a safe option for my clients. The chess pieces are perfect. My clients love them and I feel safe allowing these silicone chess pieces in the environment.

While a little unusual at first due to the flexibility, these are pretty good pieces. They are lighter weight, but not light weight. They are stable enough on the board that it can be picked up and moved pretty easily without worry of pieces tipping or getting pushed out of position. They do not slide on the board, as others have noted. If you pick up pieces to move, you won't have an issue. I am using them on a board with ~1.75+ squares and they are a comfortable fit. Chesshouse service was excellent. I ordered on a Monday and they arrived in east TN on Thursday. I will definitely buy from Chess House again, and would not hesitate to buy the silicone pieces again if the need arises.

Very nice they don't slide well on a vinyl, board but I use mine on a silicon board nothing slides on it anyway. Couldn't be more pleased.

Teal is the 2020-21 Color of the Year. This is a great shade, not too turquoise-y. Great feel to the pieces, great looking.

Love the silicone! Nice 'soft' pieces to move around. The flexible chessboard is also quite nice.

Pieces stick to board so that they don't fall over easy, but they can't be shuffled without lifting them. If you are a bullet player this may be either an advantage or disadvantage depending on how you prefer to move the pieces. In my opinion it is an advantage.

These are soft rubber pieces in a standard size, with a flat almost powder dry finish. This is great because dust won't stick to them and makes them easy to keep clean. But I was actually hoping they would be a little sticky at least on the bottom. This is not a problem with the product. These are a great choice especially if you want to avoid chipped pieces. I purchased them specifically to see if they would be sticky.

The sets arrived in perfect condition and fit into their bags. They look like nice tournament pieces. I gave one set to the senior center and use the others when the chess players come over to play. I put my expensive ebony and rosewood set away and bring the silicon sets and boards out. I don’t have to worry about anything breaking or chipping.
